Floating World, Flukey Weather.

What kills me is that no less than SEVEN peoplethough I was Q at Beyond Leather. Um....

What kills me is that no less than SEVEN people thought I was Q at Beyond Leather. Um....

On the way to Floating World I ran into a couple of moments of Zen. The first was cool: I ran into the charming and dope ass Q in the terminal. Q was on the way to the Butch Voices Conference, even as I was headed back east for Floating World. We chatted a bit in the terminal and I marveled at how lovely it is to have friends and have paths cross in such synchronous way.

Another moment of Zen where I’d royally fucked up a plane reservation. See, Continental lets you hold a reservation for 24 hours and cancel with no harm, no foul before 24 hours when your booking. And hey, if you happen to find a cheaper fare on, say, Air Tran, you can run back all “BOOYA in your FACE Continental, I got the cheaper fare!!”  then wriggle in your chair like you da fuckin’ MAN!

Buuuut of course if you forget to cancel the Continental ticket you instead are whinging on the phone to Air Tran and taking a $75 hit as a Dork Tax.

And then was the issue of being on a different arrival time, and how I was going to get to the hotel, and oy vey I sure as heck wasn’t gonna be able to get in early…

As I was on Twitter feeling dorky about my foolishness, Bfuldisaster chimed in….

@Mollena 3 years ago a friend of mine made it to his dads hospice in time to say goodbye because someone booked two flights by mistake

@Mollena so call yourself whatever, but you might have just helped someone out.

And then Twitter kicked into my favourite mode, one I’ve seen work in amazing ways: I was offered a ride, and after  a tongue-in-cheek speculation of accepting a list and couch from an acquaintance, supporting confirmation that they person offering the ride wasn’t a psycho, and ta-daaaa! I’m set and ready to go!

Holy shit,  though. It is humid as FUCK here. Damn.

There was a beautiful and wistfully fast-moving thunderstorm. I miss hot weather T-Storms. The smell of hot sidewalk soaking fat splodrops of rain, the sky opening up and split with lighting…beautiful. Alas, after half an hour, it all cleared away.

I had a lovely lunch with Viviane and her friend,  reconnected with Morpheus, who I knew back when he lived in SF. and ate a massive and freaking delicious slice of Boston Cream Pie.

Fuck Yeah.

Then back to the hotel to take a deep breath and run back to the venue for my first class of the weekend.

I was so pleased to see Miss Calico, Lee Harrington and Lucky Paul who stopped into my class to wish me luck and I returned the sentiment, since we all had concurrent classes this evening.

Jai Ganesha.........Happy Birthday!

Jai Ganesha.........Happy Birthday!

My first class of the weekend was the Race Play class…I think it was OK. A couple of places in there I lost my train of thought, but I was pretty *^% tired. But it felt pretty good.

The dungeon at the event is VAST. The system they have to shuttle people between the hotels and the Center seems to be chugging along pretty well, even though I had to run shouting behind one and stop it in order to avoid being late for my own class!

On the way back after my class, i was bemused to have our driver be someone in “Little” mode giggling and shouting and playing with the wipers as they were teched out on driving a van. Your kink is OK…but can you drop it when you have a van full of people who are relying on you to remain safe? kthxbai.

Man I’m just the crankyperv, huh.

Ready To Write!

On the up (way up)  side, I have a whirlpool bath in this room, and it is pretty dang big, which is lovely.

So here I am!  Though it might sound dorky, I’m so thrilled with even the simple local Chinese Food. If you’re at Floating World, go ahead and order from Jade Dynasty. I am weeping over the delicious chicken and broccoli, the wonton soup, the old school duc sauce, bags of crispy noodles, cold sesame noodles. There’s an East Coast Style  I surely miss.

So, here we are! Watching TV, nomming tastiness, getting ready to do my writing exercise for the day. Can’t let my commitments drop just because I’m off being fancy at a Pervert Convention!

      Hello …!

Well, now that I am back I can report that it was an up-and-down weekend…just posted about some of it.

For better and worse, no such luck in pushing back the loneliness with the fleeting embrace of someone else, etc etc etc.

But what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, even if it do be shitty sometimes! ;-)

      xoxo

Um… 8. Somebody I know you didn’t encounter asked me if you were Q.

Every once in a while, somebody still thinks I’m Bear Thunderfire.

Sigh. Wish I could have caught up with you, but it was nice seeing you from across a room. Especially doing what you were doing at the time :)

Unless I’m mistaken (which I could be, given the dark and the state I was in at the time, but I don’t think so)… you were in a corner in the women’s area, on your back. ;)

Oh goodness yes! I thought you were talking about Beyond Leather!

That was indeed the Fan-tastic Wndy Blackheart and me having a grand old time :-D

I will haveta write about that one soon. Such an adventure.

          Peace.

Oh!! Now I get it. The bit about being mistaken for Q at BL was buried in the post about FW and I didn’t catch the distinction. So much for my reading comprehension! I’m glad you got to have a good time at FW. IMO the cell phone policy sucks donkey dick. Last year, I had a really hard time connecting with people–important people, like my partner–and it caused us a lot of stress. I only went for Saturday this year, and I stayed pretty much joined at the hip with my top the whole time. Easier that way. Much easier.
